Eckhart, Meister Johannes (1260?-1328?)
German mystic and Christian theologian. Born in Hochheim of a family of knights, Eckhart joined the Dominicans at the age of 15 and continued his theological studies as a member of the order. Modern scholars consider Eckhart's mysticism generally orthodox, although they were a source of controversy and condemned by religious authority in his own time.

Emmons, Robert A., Ph.D.
Robert A. Emmons is a professor of psychology at the University of California, Davis. His research focuses on how and why we strive to meet our goals, and the resulting overall quality of our life. In particular, Dr. Emmons explores how spirituality and identity play a part in our life motivation and success. He is the author of over sixty research articles and chapters. His study of motivational theory, The Psychology of Ultimate Concerns: Motivation and Spirituality in Personality, was published by Guilford Press in 1999.
