Work is a complex subject for many, both a challenge and a blessing. One person can only see trading time for money. Another can only feel the burden of ensuring the bills are paid. Yet another has nothing in life outside of work.

There are conflicting messages: telling us to find fulfillment in our work, that we must love our work and at the same time we mustn't be too involved with work. How do we do it?

Finding balance between personal life and work is elusive, as is finding joy in tiresome tasks.

I suggest applying gratitude to work, and remembering that at the end of each business process - and at steps along the way - there are human hearts. Remembering that you touch others through your work, and being alert to and grateful for opportunity will take you a long way.

Treating those you touch with your work as you would like to be treated, being kind and putting effort into good results will only multiply the good in your life, and your satisfaction with your work.
