There's a theme this month, the challenge
of leaving "safe harbor" to reach one's dreams.
Thankful for a captain who I believe knows the way.
New cover quotes, fresh gratitude
quotes, new medition about longing,
and new feature quote, part 1 of 2 about Taking
the Chance.
This month's meditation is about balance,
an issue for me and so many I know. I believe the cover
quote from Naikan: that living with gratitude goes a
long way toward helping you find balance in life. Sometimes
it's just the lesson of the tightrope walker - quit
looking at the ground before your feet. Chin up and
see the horizon instead.
I had the privilege of meeting Antonio
Tarver in Tampa, Florida last week. He's a remarkable
young man who shines brightly, and, for reasons I cannot
fully understand, can't wait to get into the ring with
Roy Jones, Jr. One thing we do have in common is gratitude.
Mr. Tarver shines as he speaks highly of the individuals
who helped him fulfill his dreams, and of his blessings.
Our cover quote this month rings true for me, and I
hope it does for you, too. It's the subject of our meditation
as well.
Happy Thanksgiving, and may it be continuous.
Things happen; time passes.
October 23rd, 2001
Thanks to friends and visitors for
your patience. I lost my mother to breast cancer one
month ago, and her Hope
Hospice care was a true blessing. The lessons I
am learning now can only add to the long-term value
and perspective of what I am able to share through this
site and with those I love.
We had our first true crisis day Tuesday,
September 11th, and our last day September 23rd.
Confronted with the tragic, instant
loss of thousands of lives - the last minute phone calls
of those who knew they were about to leave this earth
- and my own mother's slow letting go of the things
we take for granted, the most important thing I can
say to you is this: Don't Wait.
Don't
wait. Reach out to those around you and say the
important things. Review your list of "some day
I'm going to...", and do at least one in the next
30 days.
The overall goal of BeThankful.com
is to spread this very powerful point of view:
When we learn to be thankful for all
we have,
we live with gratitude.
When we live with gratitude,
we see others through the eyes of love.
